Does it matter which version of the Bible you read?
As Christians we want to be sure we have an accurate and complete Bible from which we can know who God is and what His purpose is for our lives and for all of mankind. This conference will give you the tools and information needed to be sure you have the complete and accurate Word of God in your hands.
Dr. David Sorenson, author and authority on Biblical textual issues, will take an in-depth look at the answer to this question by examining a multitude of historical sources, textual evidence, and translational evidence. Although this topic is scholarly by nature, Dr Sorenson presents it in such a way it can be understood by just about anyone. We’ll trace the origins of the Bible manuscripts, examine the backgrounds and qualifications of the English language translators, and look into the historical events leading up to the translations; all with the goal of answering the question "does it matter which version of the Bible you read".

Dr. David Sorenson, Guest Speaker
David H. Sorenson, B.A., M. Div., D. Min. is a third-generation fundamental Baptist preacher, pastor, church planter, soul winner, church builder, and a widely-read author whose writing style is eminently readable.
Dr. David Sorenson was once an adherent to the modern critical text and encouraged use of the New American Standard Bible. However, in around 1982 a pastor friend gave him a copy of a book entitled Which Bible? by Dr. David Otis Fuller. Sorenson’s eyes were opened to the apostasy and corruption associated with the modern critical text which is the foundation for virtually all modern Bibles.
In the following years, he became knowledgeable on the subject, writing numerous books on the issue: Touch Not the Unclean Thing, God’s Perfect Book, Neither Oldest Nor Best, and The Faithful Word: The Making of the King James Bible.
Dr. Sorenson is a regular speaker at Bible conferences around the country where he presents his research and insights into the various Bible translations origin.

Lesson 1: Origin of the Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus Manuscripts
We've often heard the oldest Biblical manuscripts are the best and that the Codex Vaticanus and Sinaiticus are the oldest. In this lesson we trace the origins of these two manuscripts to around 1435AD and 1840AD. Because most modern translations have these two manuscripts as their foundation it is important to examine their origin to determine whether they accurate and reliable.
Lesson 2: How God Has Given Us the Bible
God promised that His words would not pass away. He used holy men to record His words and has preserved them through the ages.

Lesson 3: The Origins of the Modern Translations
We trace the origin of the manuscripts, the men who compiled them, and the translators of the modern English Bible. Their theology significantly impacted how they approached the manuscripts and translations and so it is important we understand its origin ourselves.
These men strayed from the truth of God's word, did not believe in miracles, questions the deity of Jesus and numerous other issues that are contrary to sound Biblical teachings. They produced a corrupted text that the modern English translations are based on.
Because of all these issues it is important to know what manuscript your Bible is based on and only use the reliable Received (Traditional) Text that has been preserved through the ages.
Lesson 4: The Origin of the King James Bible
Follow the manuscripts through the ages beginning in 150AD through the translation of the King James Bible in 1769. We see throughout history God preserved His words and provided godly men to translated the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts into English. The King James Bible became the dominate translation in the English language about 20 years after its printing and has remained so today.
